Kzaley and Oja win Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s NABC at Lake Vermillion Presented by Ranger Boats

Tower, Minn, June 17th, 2019 – The over 39,000 acres of Lake Vermillion could have intimidated some, but not the winning team of Kevin Kzaley (Otsego, MN) and Eric Oja (Farmington, MN). The team conquered the lake and the North American Bass Circuit (NABC) event with handing in over twenty pounds in the one-day tournament.

Presented by Ranger Boats, this Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s NABC event was hosted by Fortune Bay Casino, a favorite location for many of the anglers on the circuit. Having a great launch location, very close to many of the fishermen’s top fishing spots, can mean more time fishing and less time going for boat rides.

While on stage Kevin and Eric credited their 20-06 weight to sticking to the plan of finding fish still on beds. They committed themselves to traveling the distance needed to find the few bed-fish still lingering in the cool tannin waters. As the team fished throughout the day they continued to upgrade, when before coming in to the scale still believing they didn’t have enough to pull off the win. “We thought we needed another big one.” Eric chuckled while holding tightly to the winner’s trophy.

Kzaley and Oja made out well, winning the $2,400 top prize plus trophies, then winning $2,268 in Option Pot #1 and $255 for the second biggest bass for a grand total of $5,563 in cash and trophies.

Rounding out the top three:

2nd Jim Merthan and Dave Skallet, 18 lbs. 15 oz., $1,200 cash, $1,512 option-pot cash, $2,250 option-pot cash

3rd Charles Brant and Nathan Nipper, 17lbs. 14oz., $600 cash

Overall the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s NABC awarded $12,020 in cash and prizes at Sturgeon Bay.
