Corrao & Stefan Named 2013 NABC Team of the Year

2013-nabc-toyPonca City, OK – Sept. 23, 2013 – The Wisconsin Premier Team Jason Corrao of Madison and Matt Stefan of Junction City were named the 2013 Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit’s North Region Team of the Year after the Region’s finale at Leech Lake, Minn. This title is awarded to the team finishing the regular season with the highest point total from any three NABC qualifiers. The title is worth a $2,000 Cabela’s gift card, plaques and paid entry into the North Region Championship, which is to be held Oct. 11-12 on Wisconsin’s Chippewa Flowage.

The team competed in three of the four region tournaments, winning the season opener at Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., taking 5th place at La Crosse, Wisc on the Mississippi River and finishing 4th place at Leech Lake, Minn., making their season point total 293 points.

Second place in the TOY Standings was Johnston Westmoreland and Al Ansell with 289 points. The Westmoreland and Ansell won the event at La Crosse, taking 3rd at Lake Pokegama and 10th in the finale at Leech Lake. Third place in the standings was Gary Adkins and Kyle Carpenter of Wisconsin with 281 points. All three teams qualify and advance to the North Region Bass Championship in three weeks.



2013 NABC North Region Championship Team Named

Forty teams have qualified for the 2013 North Region Championship, which is to be held Oct. 11-12 on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward, Wisc. The teams qualified by being the top 20 premier teams and top 10 overall points total in their best 2 events of the season in their region. Also, teams who fished all four region events also automatically qualify. The entry fee for the Championship is $600.


Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is in its third season as title sponsor of the NABC. Other sponsors include: Ranger Boats, Stratos Boats, Mercury Marine, MotorGuide, Optima Batteries, O2 Marine Technologies and Sea Grant.

Based in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the Cabela’s NABC is open to two-person teams regardless of club or sponsor affiliation. Entry fees are $500 per regular season tournament and $600 for the two-day regional championship. Payback is 80 percent at the event, with the balance to support the championship and angler of the year prizes. In addition, a small donation is included in each entry fee and matched by NABC and other conservation organizations up to 3-to-1 in support bass conservation projects anywhere NABC does business.
