For Immediate Release –
Ponca City, Okla.—July 24, 2015—The Midwest’s top competitive bass anglers will again converge on Minnesota’s Lake Vermilion when the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit returns August 15 for a regular season qualifier presented by Ranger Boats.
The event offers two-person teams a shot at exciting competition for thousands in cash and prizes on the iconic Northwoods fishery. Teams will be allowed to bring their best five large- or smallmouth bass to the scale, and the team with the heaviest total weight will be crowned tournament champions.
Judging by last season’s results, competitors are in for great bass fishing. At the 2014 Cabela’s NABC two-day Vermilion qualifier last August, 43 teams brought in 78 limits and 397 bass weighing a total of 1,257 pounds, 11 ounces. It took 40 pounds, 9 ounces to win the event; Minnesotans Andrew and Michael Nitchals, both of Willmar, racked up the winning weight plying tubes and football jigs on deep rock piles connected to islands or the main shoreline.
Cabela’s NABC anglers enjoy more than a 100 percent payback, with payouts based on the number of teams entered in each event. For example, the Nitchals’ efforts were rewarded with a $6,500 first-place payout, which included $5,900 in cash plus a pair of $300 Cabela’s gift cards.
Teams competing in the 2015 qualifier can expect equally lucrative payouts, which are distributed to the top 20 percent of the field. Plus, the NABC Big Bass Pot, along with sponsor contingencies including Ranger Cup, Stratos 2X and Garmin Grand Giveaway add thousands in cash to the total.
Because this is the fourth and final NABC regular-season qualifier, even more winnings will be at stake. Teams fishing at least three NABC tournaments this season will battle for coveted invitations to the prestigious, high-stakes championship, which is set for Sept. 19-20 on Minnesota’s Lake Minnetonka and offers $15,000 for first place and $10,000 for second, based on full fields at the qualifiers and championship.
Cabela’s NABC Team of the Year titles will also be awarded to the top five point-accumulating teams, led by a $3,600 prize package for the overall Team of the Year, which includes paid entry fees to all four 2016 qualifiers and the 2015 championship, $1,000 Cabela’s in gift cards and handsome trophies.
Tournament fans of all ages are invited to watch the Lake Vermilion action unfold at the weigh-in, which is free, open to the public, and starts at 3 p.m. at Fortune Bay Resort Casino.
Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is in its fifth season as title sponsor of the NABC. Other sponsors include: Ranger Boats, Stratos Boats, Mercury Marine, Garmin, MotorGuide, G-Juice and T-H Marine.
Based in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the Cabela’s NABC is open to two-person teams regardless of club or sponsor affiliation. Entry fees are $500 per regular season tournament and $600 for the two-day championship. Along with a payback of more than 100 percent, a small donation is included in each entry fee and matched by NABC and other conservation organizations up to 3-to-1 in support bass conservation projects anywhere the NABC does business.
Registration closes at 10 a.m. on the Monday prior to each tournament. For more information, visit northamericanbasscircuit.com, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (580) 765-9031.
